VISA Credit Cards
VISA began as the brilliant idea of a Bank of America branch manager in 1958 who noticed shop keepers tallying up their customer's monthly bills after closing. He thought that a more time and cost efficient method would be if his banks computer tallied up the records when they were closed. This gave rise to the Bank of America card, which was later changed to VISA. Today,
VISA has debit, credit and prepaid cards. Many of its cards offer features like extended warranties, theft insurance on merchandise purchased with the card, damage waivers on cars rented with the card and travel accident insurance also purchased with the card. In 1984, VISA introduced a holographic dove under the last four digits of the card number as a security feature. The logo was also reduced in size to allow issuing banks to alter the appearance of the card to their preference. Because of its long history and reliability, VISA is usually accepted everywhere.
